GALLERY: 19 pictures as Iúr Cinn Fleadh brings the noise to Newry

The streets of Newry were filled with noise over the weekend as the annual music festival Iúr Cinn Fleadh marked ten years of helping the city tap into trad.

More than 80 events were organised by Iúr Cinn Fleadh, which started in 2014 with gigs hosted across 30 venues around the city.

Headlining this year’s festival were Irish trad legends Altan, who performed their first ever Newry gig at the Town Hall.

Music was on the move wherever people go. When visitors and locals went out for a pint, they found musicians and singers playing a few tunes at pubs and cafes around Newry.

Others stopped all motorised traffic in the heart of Newry and celebrated total freedom for cyclists – with a dance music soundtrack – for Bikes And Beats On The Streets.

Here’s some pictures from across the weekend, taken by Liz Boyle.
