Newry hoping to keep away streak against Carrick in tact in Bet McLean League Cup tie

Newry City travel to the Loughview Leisure Arena to take on Carrick Rangers this evening (Tuesday) in the Bet McLean League Cup.
With only 16 teams left in the competition, both of these lower-table Sports Direct Premiership sides will see the game as a real chance to progress into the latter stages of the tournament, as heavy-hitters take each other out elsewhere.

Hide AdNewry City have enjoyed their two most recent trips up to Carrickfergus, as they defeated Stuart King's men 2-0 at the end of last season in April, and 2-0 again in August at the beginning of this campaign.
However, Carrick will come into the game full of confidence, after they defeated heavy favourites Glentoran 3-2 at The Bet McLean Oval on Saturday.
Speaking after Newry City's most recent league match - a 3-0 defeat at home to league leaders Linfield - manager Gary Boyle said he was relishing the chance to get a cup fixture.
"Carrick had a big result today (Saturday), and it's always a difficult place to go; nevermind after a huge result like that," said Boyle.
"So, we'll know what to expect, we'll have a talk with the squad and see how everybody is feeling, and maybe get minutes back into the legs of players that need them."
