Killeavy are Armagh Junior Hurling champions after they defeated Sean Treacy's 2-17 to 2-12 in an epic final in Armagh today.

Joseph O'Connor was the star man with 2-5, but he was supported by a strong support cast with tremendous performances all throughout the team for the men in green and black.

Goalkeeper Damien Begley made a crucial penalty save with just five minutes on the clock, captain Gareth Larkin led by example in defence, Glenn McKeown put in an industrious shift in midfield, wing forwards Morgan Thomas and Shay Carroll worked tremendously hard in transition, and Conor Hannaway had an exhibition of shooting from dead balls - finishing the day with 0-8.

The aforementioned penalty save was the most dramatic moment of the early stages, as the two teams cancelled each other out at 0-5 apiece as half-time approached.

However, the game then burst into life after Treacy's corner forward Ryan Stewart smashed his shot into the roof of the Killeavy net. Instead of wilting, the south Armagh men had a perfect response, scoring 1-2 without reply in the dying stages of the half, with O'Connor finding the net in stoppage time.

Killeavy picked up from where they left off after the break, and led by six points. But in a game where momentum ebbed and flowed, Sean Treacy's weren't going away, and were back on level terms after a quick 1-3, which included a goal for Anthony Carville.

As a result, it was all square with 10 minutes to go, but when the game was in the melting pot it was Killeavy who stood tallest, and they closed out the game in style, including an unforgettable late goal from O'Connor as he almost took the roof off the Sean Treacy's net.

Derek Dunne's side prevented another Treacy's comeback and closed out a well deserved five-point lead.
