Armagh Senior football manager Kieran McGeeney has offered his support to the Minor team, ahead of their All-Ireland final against Derry.

McGeeney wished the management team of Aidan O’Rourke, Stefan Forker, Niall Woods and James Daly the best of luck, and hailed the team’s semi-final win over Mayo as ‘one of the best’ performances he has ever seen from an Armagh underage team.

“I want to wish Aidan, Stefan, Niall and James all the best,” he told Armagh TV.

“They put in a fantastic performance on their last day out against Mayo – probably one of the best underage performances we have ever seen from Armagh.

“So, all the credit to the management team and the best of luck to the boys, it would be fantastic for us if we could get an All-Ireland Minor title."

It is exciting times for the county with the Senior men taking on Kerry in the All-Ireland SFC Semi-final next Saturday, but this weekend is all about the Minor lads and McGeeney says that he is hopeful that the Orchard County’s supporters will flock to Omagh to cheer their team on to a first All-Ireland title at that age grade since 2009.

“It has been a long time since we have won anything at underage, so the whole county is behind them and it would be great to see loads of fans down there supporting them.”
