Armagh’s Jarlath Og Burns selected on the 2026 PWC Football Team of the Year
Armagh’s Jarlath Óg Burns has been selected on the GAA / GPA PWC Football Team of the Year 2026 for his performances in the orange and white, after helping his county win the Ulster Championship.
Burns, who featured in every league and Championship match for his county, was selected at wing-back. From this position, the Silverbridge man was often seen marauding forward and contributing scores, finishing with 0-24 throughout the season.

He also featured in midfield for Armagh – memorably tussling with Down’s Odhran Murdock in a Man of the Match winning display in the Ulster Semi-final. Burns was selected in midfield by the Irish News in their Ulster-based Team of the Year for 2026.
Burns was Armagh’s only man selected for the team, with Tiernan Kelly and two-time All Star winner Oisin Conaty also nominated.

Armagh GAA paid tribute to Burns’ success with a post on social media which read: “An unforgettable night awaits Jarlath Óg Burns as he receives his first GAA/GPA All-Star award this evening,” they wrote on Friday morning.
“A fitting reward for his outstanding performances in the orange and white in 2026, and recognition of the commitment, determination and quality he brings every time he pulls on the Armagh jersey.
“A special occasion for Jarlath Óg, his family, Silverbridge Harps and the entire Armagh GAA community.
“Comhghairdeas, Jarlath Óg!”

Burns’ club Silverbridge Harps GFC said: “Some moments make you stop, smile and feel an overwhelming sense of pride. This is one of them.
“Everyone at Silverbridge Harps is absolutely delighted to congratulate our own Jarly Óg Burns on being named a 2026 PwC GAA/GPA Football All-Star!
“Jarly Óg is a quiet gentleman who goes about his business without fuss, letting his football do the talking. His talent, dedication and hard work have earned him this wonderful recognition, and we couldn’t be prouder to see him receive an award that is so richly deserved.
“For those who know him best, this achievement will mean so much. Behind every player is a family, friends, teammates and a community who have watched the journey, shared the sacrifices and quietly hoped for moments like this. We know just how special today will be for them all.
“To see one of our own recognised among the very best in Gaelic football is a hugely proud moment for our club and our community.
“Jarly Óg, enjoy every minute of this special achievement. You deserve it, and we’re all so proud of you!”
Eight different counties were represented on the team, with All-Ireland champions Mayo leading the way with six.
