A frustrated Darren Mullen spoke to us this evening after his side failed to perform in a 2-0 home loss against Annagh United.

He says that the club – which sits second from bottom in the Playr-Fit Championship - will need ‘up to seven or eight’ new signings in January, that he’s annoyed with how the squad changed in his time away from the club, but that he remains positive that he can turn things around.

Time for changes:

“January can't come quick enough to be honest.

“There is a certain style of football that I want to play, there are certain characteristics I want in my team. At the minute we're just not showing it; we are where we are for a reason.

“We just need to try and fix it, but it's very difficult to do that when you haven't got the players to do it.

“We could need up to seven or eight new players, that's the reality. Whether that'll happen or not is another thing.”

Regression in the last 18 months:

“To be honest, I'm annoyed. As someone who left the club in the Premiership, to now be battling relegation in the Championship – it's not good enough and it's not where we should be.

“Is it worse than I thought? Yes, it's way worse than I thought.

“I can only apologise to the fans, because I'm watching that and I'm annoyed on the line.”

Things will improve:

“As I have said before, I will fix it.

“I knew it was going to be difficult. Is it more difficult than I thought it would be? Yes, but that means that we'll have to work harder and we will.

“What I can assure the fans is that it will get better. It's going to take time and it's going to take pain, but it will get better.”
