Newry City fans are 'easily the best in the country' says Ryan McGivern

Speaking to Newry City AFC’s official website, the 34-year-old defender said: "Newry is my hometown club which I love.
“Growing up as a kid going to watch the games at The Showgrounds, Newry were always a Premiership side and when I signed, the aim was to try and get the club back to the Premiership and stay there where it belongs. That's the sole aim and focus for the season ahead.

McGivern has had an accomplished career, having appeared for Manchester City in the Premier League and played for Hibernian in the 2013 Scottish Cup, as well as earning 24 international caps for Northern Ireland. He has made 90 appearances for City in his three years at the club since signing from Linfield in 2021.
He is one of six players who extended their stay at the club for another season on Friday, alongside Darren King, Ciaran O’Connor, Stephen Moan, Georgie Poynton and Jordan Mooney.
