Meadowbrook Park road resurfacing ‘a priority’, says MP

Newry and Armagh MP, Dáire Hughes, has welcomed a commitment from the Department of Infrastructure to resurface Meadowbrook Park in Newry.

The Sinn Féin representative said: “My colleagues Liz Kimmins MLA, Cllr. Declan Murphy and I have been lobbying for a number of years for this much-needed resurfacing work, and have held meetings on site with residents and officials to demonstrate the dire need for improvements.

“This week Road Service have confirmed that resurfacing for Meadowbrook Park is likely to happen within this financial year, as resources become available.

“This will be welcome news for residents who have had to put up with substandard roads for too long already.

“DFI have also confirmed that weed spraying of the area will commence in the coming days.”

The MP concluded: “Sinn Féin will continue to press officials and keep Meadowbrook Park high on the agenda. We will continue to work hard to deliver much needed improvements across Newry and Armagh.”
