The SDLP's Newry & Armagh MLA Justin McNulty & Newry Councillor Doire Finn have welcomed the completion of a redevelopment project at Merchants Quay in Newry.

The project delivers 38 modern apartments and three ground-floor retail units in the heart of the city.

Led by local firm Kelly Brothers in partnership with Clanmil Housing Association, the project revitalises a former brownfield site.

Located in the heart of the Newry Conservation Area overlooking the canal, the project has been carefully designed to respect the historic character of the area while bringing new energy and purpose to the city centre.

Clanmill Housing will manage the new apartments, which are a mix of one and two-bedroom homes, showcasing their extensive experience of providing high-quality homes and support services across Northern Ireland.

Mr. McNulty said: "This development represents a significant milestone for Newry. It not only provides much-needed housing but also breathes new life into our city centre. The thoughtful design respects our local heritage while offering modern, sustainable living spaces. I commend Kelly Brothers and Clanmil Housing for their commitment to enhancing our community.

“The apartments, a mix of one and two-bedroom homes, are designed to high standards of energy efficiency and accessibility. The inclusion of retail units will boost local commerce and increase footfall in the area, aligning with broader efforts to rejuvenate Newry's urban centre.
