McNulty: North-South partnership will unlock progress

SDLP MLA Justin McNulty has met with the Shared Island Unit in Dublin to discuss opportunities for cross-border partnership and cooperation

Mr McNulty said: “With an additional €1billion in funding for this Dáil term, the Shared Island Unit will make a transformative impact across the island of Ireland. I took the opportunity to discuss my priorities with them, including on infrastructure and transport, tourism, sport, the environment, and cross-border health care.

“There are huge opportunities to be found in cooperation and working together on a cross-border basis. The SDLP has secured huge commitments through the Shared Island initiative, and we will continue to work collaboratively with the Southern Government to maximise the impact of North-South partnership.

“Pragmatic partnership that improves people’s lives will lay the foundations for the kind of new Ireland that we in the SDLP want to see. Lip service on a new Ireland isn’t enough, we need to see practical action and strategic direction delivered through vehicles like the Shared Island Unit.”
