McNulty hails Reavey’s ‘extraordinary courage’
SDLP Newry & Armagh MLA Justin McNulty has hailed the extraordinary courage of Whitecross man and victims advocate, Eugene Reavey.
Mr. McNulty made the comments relating to Eugene Reavey’s much anticipated book launch, ‘The Killing of The Reavey Brothers: British Murder and Cover-Up in Northern Ireland’.

In the book, Eugene takes readers on a harrowing journey through the darkest chapter of his life during the Troubles. He relives the tragic night in 1976 when his three brothers – John Martin, Anthony, and Brian - were brutally murdered in their family home in Whitecross.
Speaking following the launch of the book, Justin McNulty MLA said: “Eugene Reavey stands as a beacon of quiet courage and unbreakable resolve. In the face of unimaginable grief - the brutal murder of his three brothers in one of the darkest chapters of the North’s history - Eugene and his family chose not vengeance, but integrity. For decades, they carried their pain with dignity, confronting every obstacle and setback with unwavering truth.
“Now, half a century later, Eugene’s brave decision to share their story in a deeply honest book is not just an act of remembrance, but of defiance against silence and distortion. It is a testament to a family’s strength of character and a call for justice rooted in peace.
“Eugene Reavey is a man of extraordinary courage and outstanding character. I salute his bravery, and his determination tell the truth, and to pursue justice, no matter how uncomfortable that may make some people feel.”
