Irish government told to begin planning for Irish unity
Sinn Féin Seanadóir Conor Murphy, speaking at the recent British-Irish Association conference in Oxford, has called on the Irish government to begin planning for Irish unity.
Murphy attended the event as part of a Sinn Féin delegation that included Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald and enterprise spokesperson, Rose Conway-Walsh TD.

“The conversation on what a united Ireland would look like is thriving right across our island,” said Mr Murphy.
“Now more than ever, people from a range of backgrounds are discussing the opportunities that lie ahead.
“With this growing momentum, it is totally unacceptable that the Irish government continues to shy away from its responsibility to prepare for constitutional change.
“It’s time for An Taoiseach and the Tánaiste to begin serious preparatory work. This must include the establishment of a Citizens’ Assembly to give communities a voice in shaping our future.
“Ireland has huge untapped potential, and we must continue working to unlock this, plan for a brighter future, and deliver for workers and families.”
