A Newry 'Bridgil' outside Newry Train station and overlooking the A1 was organised by the Newry branch of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) on May 31st.

Marc Mac Seáin, chair of the branch, said: “We have joined in a campaign that is taking place around the island of Ireland to remind people of the continuing genocide in Gaza and, particularly, the slaughter of civilians taking place currently in Rafah and demand more meaningful action from our government.

"Palestinians want our governments to act, which is why we need sanctions, expulsions of diplomats, arms embargoes and an end to permitting the American military violating our neutrality and using our airports to carry munitions and bombs which fuel genocide. The response this evening was extraordinary. It seemed that every passing car, lorry and bus hooted their horn in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.”
