WBR Chamber hosted its inaugural Christmas Charity Lunch on Friday, December 13 in the Whistledown Hotel, Warrenpoint raising £6,550 to help four local family Charities, Bolster Community, SVDP, Homestart and Women’s Aid.

The event was sponsored by The Whistledown Hotel and the WBR Credit Union.

The sold-out event was an excellent way for the Warrenpoint, Burren and Rostrevor business community to support local charities while fostering connections among businesses, residents, and civic leaders.

It was an excellent afternoon with festive activities, meaningful opportunities for donations, and a holiday ambiance. Key note speaker on the day was a man who epitomises generosity in business and community, Mr Feargal McCormack.

In conjunction with the lunch event, the WBR Chamber introduced the inaugural local business voucher initiative. The WBR Chamber encouraged the businesses attending the lunch, those unable to attend, and community members to buy one or more vouchers from any local business. These vouchers will assist families within our community this Christmas season. The four local charities will distribute the vouchers to those in need.

There were some amazing raffle prizes available on the day sponsored by many local businesses as well as an auction for a signed Ireland Rugby jersey sponsored by the Whistledown and two tickets for Ulster v Munster sponsored by Bank of Ireland.

Colleen Tinnelly, WBR Chamber of Commerce President states: “We are overwhelmed and grateful to every business and individual that contributed to the Christmas Charity Lunch and voucher appeal.

"By attending the lunch, donating prizes and vouchers for local business and in any way possible to make this event successful.

"The event was designed to bring people together in the spirt of generosity while supporting local charities.

"We hope the WBR Chamber Christmas Charity will become an annual tradition, celebrating both the festive season and the strength of our community.”
