Tree planting ceremony to take place to mark Gaza milestone

The ceremony will take place at the village Garden of Remembrance.

The event is being organised by the group, ‘Gaels Against Genocide’.

Pat McGinn, well known gael and community activist who is part of the organising committee, extended a welcome for all with an interest in the Palestine issue to attend.

He explained, “Gael’s Against Genocide have been active throughout Ireland in highlighting the continued Genocide in Gaza.

"We are organising events throughout the country this weekend to mark 300 Days of genocide in Gaza.

"Our Group is open to all like minded Gaels, groups and individuals whose objective is the demand for a permanent ceasefire and the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

"Gaels against Genocide in Gaza are encouraging all to get involved in our events across Ireland this weekend to mark 300 Days of Genocide in Gaza.”

Pat continued, "The Israeli military onslaught against the Palestinian people is barbaric and in clear violation of international humanitarian law. An unconditional ceasefire must be urgently called and Israel must be held accountable for its actions.

"The death toll since last Oct. 7 is now nearing 40,000 with over 90,000 injured.

"This is an opportunity to demonstrate that we stand with the people of Gaza and the West Bank and to reiterate calls for an immediate ceasefire, and an end to the occupation.”

Concluding the Gaels Against Genocide spokesperson said, “We invite sports teams, club members and individuals to attend. We would be delighted if those attending would wear their club/county colours.

"The Tree Planting ceremony vigil like all events organised by Gaels Against Genocide, will be inclusive and respectful.

"We encourage all to attend and ‘don’t stop talking about Palestine’.”
