Newry man Gary Worsford is offering a reward of £400 to anyone who can help re-unite him with his pet dog Jessica and therapy goat Hilda.

The pets were last seen at Parkhead Crescent on June 2.

Gary – who is wheelchair bound - spoke to the Newry Reporter about his pets, how much they mean to him, and what he has been doing to get them home safe.

“The dog is called Jessica I've had her for nine years and she is due to have pups in three weeks.

“She goes absolutely everywhere with me. She is the best trained dog in Newry and has never used a lead because she is so good.

“The goat Hilda is my therapy goat. I got her due to depression and last year she went to a trainer for a month to learn how to pull a cart first, then was taught to pull me in my wheelchair. Which she has been doing ever since.

“Hilda is house-trained and lives in the house with me. Both are trained to know the local roads. Hilda usually goes to Newry market every Thursday and at least once a week she usually goes to Daisy Hill to cheer up the patients at front door. She led the ‘Save Daisy Hill’ rally and toed me in the wheelchair at it.

“Both of them mean the world to me and I've been lost without them. This has caused me unbearable stress and guilt, and I know both of them will be missing me.

“They were stolen from Parkhead Crescent on June 2nd in broad daylight and bundled into a van. I know they wouldn't have gone quietly. But have no witnesses.

“It's very strange. Everyone knows Hilda and Jessica so someone knows something about it.

“I've been visiting farm parks and petting zoos. Police are looking also and I have a £400 reward up for them . Also am getting flyers to put on busses and have rang every vets office, pound, council, dog warden from Newry to Belfast, but I have had no luck so far.

“I won't stop until I have them back.”
