Newry’s Caitie Mann is Young Vet of the Year
A veterinarian from Newry has been named Young Vet of the Year at a leading industry awards ceremony, in recognition of her outstanding skill, dedication and rapid impact in practice.
Caitie Mann, who works at Newry Vets, was honoured at the Association of Veterinary Surgeons Practising in Northern Ireland (AVSPNI) Awards after impressing judges with her clinical ability and compassionate approach to patient care.

In just her first year in practice, Caitie has already made a significant difference to both clients and their animals. Newry Vets cares for a wide range of pets and farm animals across its branches in Newry and Warrenpoint, and Caitie, who hails from Tandragee, near Newry, has quickly established herself as a valued member of the team.
After graduating from Nottingham University, she joined her local practice – part of VetPartners, a group led by vets with practices across the UK and Europe - in January 2025 and has since demonstrated exceptional veterinary knowledge, alongside a natural ability to apply that expertise effectively in real-life cases.

Judges praised her for combining strong clinical understanding with confidence and professionalism beyond her experience level, highlighting her as a rising star within the profession.
Caitie thanked her practice colleagues for their support in her first year as a vet.
Caitie said: “Everyone at the practice is so lovely and there is a really supportive, family atmosphere. There is a lot to learn in your first year as a vet and everyone has been so helpful and supportive.
“They genuinely want me to do well and are also there to support and guide me when challenges arise.”
Newry Vets Practice Manager Shantel Lloyd said: “Caitie is an exceptionally talented young vet who has made a remarkable impression in a very short space of time. She is a skilled surgeon who is able to work with minimal supervision, which is a testament to both her training and her dedication.
“She shows an obvious passion for animal care and welfare, but what truly sets her apart is the compassion and warmth she brings to every client interaction. She builds trust quickly and always goes the extra mile to ensure both animals and their owners feel supported.
“The award recognises not only Caitie’s clinical excellence, but also her commitment to delivering high standards of care and her positive contribution to the practice team.”
