Newry, Mourne and Down is Northern Ireland’s number one Guinness hotspot, a new study has revealed.

Irish marketing agency Baldwin Digital analysed data from the Guinness pub finder to reveal the number of pubs serving Guinness on draught in each local authority across Northern Ireland. These figures were compared with population data from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) to determine which areas have the highest number of pubs serving Guinness on draught per 100,000 people.

Newry, Mourne and Down is Northern Ireland’s top Guinness hotspot, with more pubs serving Guinness on draught per capita than any other local authority nationwide. Patrons can get a draught pint of Guinness in 113 pubs across the district, or 62 pubs per 100,000 people. The county also ranks fourth among Guinness 0.0% hotspots, home to 14 pubs with Guinness 0.0% cans for every 100,000 locals.

Fermanagh and Omagh, and Mid and East Antrim rank second and third, with large concentrations of pubs serving Guinness compared to their populations. There are 61 pubs serving Guinness on draught for every 100,000 people in Fermanagh and Omagh, and 49 in Mid and East Antrim.

Mid Ulster ranks joint fourth overall among Northern Ireland’s Guinness hotspots. The local authority has 71 pubs which serve Guinness on draught, or 47 per 100,000 people.

Causeway Coast and Glens rounds out the top five, averaging 47 pubs per 100,000 residents. While the area is among the highest for Guinness on draught, it also places second among the best spots for Guinness 0.0%, with 19 pubs offering Guinness 0.0% cans for every 100,000 locals.

Despite having the highest number of pubs serving Guinness on draught (152), Belfast ranks sixth when adjusted for population size (44 per 100,000). However, the area remains among the top hotspots for Guinness 0.0%, placing top in Northern Ireland with 20 pubs offering Guinness 0.0% cans for every 100,000 residents
