incredABLE news as new operator for leisure centre café announced
A social enterprise which creates opportunities for people with a learning/intellectual disability and/or autism is to operate the café at Newry Leisure Centre.
Café IncredABLE is officially opening at the centre on Friday, August 1.
They currently operate cafes at Banbridge Leisure Centre and South Lake Leisure Centre in Craigavon, along with one at the Jethro Centre in Lurgan.
Café IncredABLE is a spin-off from the incredABLE charity, who support over 500 young people across the Southern Trust area, providing adult short breaks, an ASD Life Skills programme, a Bespoke Individual & Group Service, a peer outing programme and a youth empowerment programme, all in conjunction with the Southern Trust.
Other social enterprises include incredABLEy Made, which offers vital creative, meaningful and transferable job skills in print, production or packaging in a real social enterprise environment.
They also run the incredABLE Mourne Centre, Ballinran – a self-catering residential centre for groups just outside Kilkeel which accommodates up to 26 people over two floors.
In a social media post announcing the news, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council’s NMD Be Active Leisure page said: “This marks the beginning of a fantastic new venture as the café launches with a phased approach, starting with a delicious selection of light bites – freshly brewed tea & coffee, tempting traybakes and tasty sandwiches with a hot food menu coming soon!”
The initial opening hours are Monday to Saturday: 9am – 5pm; Sunday: 10am - 5pm.
The post added: “Whether you're finishing a workout, meeting friends or just dropping by we look forward to welcoming you.”
