Camlough Community Association launches ‘Digital Camlough’ with Fibrus Broadband funding

The Fibrus Community Fund, which was launched in 2021, has to date provided £175,000 worth of funding across Northern Ireland to support digital inclusion projects, with an additional £120,000 committed in Cumbria.

Delivered in partnership with The Community Foundation Northern Ireland, the Fibrus Community Fund was established to address digital poverty in Northern Ireland and in total the Fund has now provided grants to over 100 community groups across the region.

This year, over 30 Northern Irish community groups are receiving grants to help individuals across the region access the internet and digital technology.

Speaking on the grant, Leon O'Hagan, Treasurer of the Camlough Community Association said: “This project, ‘Digital Camlough’ aims to empower older residents by enhancing their digital literacy and providing them with the tools they need to navigate the online world.

"Many older adults in our community struggle to access services and opportunities that are increasingly only available online. This digital divide can multiply social isolation and limits the ability to engage fully with the modern world. We hope to allow participants to increase their access to essential services, reduce social isolation, and build skills within our local community."
