Make home security a priority over Easter, Newry police urge public

Detective Sergeant Lewis said: “Many of us will be out and about with our families over the coming days and we would ask that you take time to ensure that your property is as secure as possible.
“Opportunistic criminals know that with the change in routine, some of us might to forget to lock doors and windows when we leave the house.

“If you have an alarm fitted, make sure it is turned on. Video doorbells can also be a really useful deterrent, and these should always be fully charged.”
Detective Sergeant Lewis continued: “Our children may be playing outside over the school holidays, as the weather improves.
“Make sure any toys and bicycles aren’t left sitting around the outside the house when they aren’t being used, and that they are locked away at night.
