Extra 24 hours granted to detectives following Crossmaglen murder arrest

Police have been granted an extra 24-hours to question a man arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of a pensioner in Crossmaglen.

Seventy-four-year-old Michael McConville was found dead in a house in the Annaghmare Road area of the village on Saturday.

A 67-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The extension follows an extra 36 hours granted previously to detectives.

Mr McConville was found with serious head injuries, which detectives believe to have been caused by a weapon.
