PICTURES: Triumphant scenes for St. Louis GCSE students

Following on from the fabulous efforts of St. Louis senior students who received wonderful AS and A2 results last week, the Kilkeel grammar school has further cemented its reputation of fine academic success.

Head of Year 12, Miss Aisling McGivern, praised the students and their parents for all their hard work and perseverance as they opened their envelopes containing the details of their wonderful achievements. “These students have applied themselves diligently to their studies and I’m delighted that they have tasted such success”, declared a proud Miss McGivern.

Celebrating another year of high academic achievement, St. Louis Principal, Mr Kevin Martin praised the efforts to all involved. “Congratulations to all our Year 12 students who have today realised their potential through their wonderful GCSE and BTEC examination results. Their dedication and application to their studies have delivered them to this joyous moment. A special word of thanks to all the teachers and support staff who have steered all these students to this celebrated moment of success, by encouraging each student to best the best they can be and reach their full potential”.

Mr Martin has always stressed the importance of the role played by those at home in student success. “Today’s success is a testament to the effective cooperation that has been fostered between our teachers, students and their parents/guardians,” Mr Martin proudly declared.

With the new academic year commencing almost immediately, the majority of these students will continue their studies at AS/A2 Level and BTEC Level 3, at St. Louis. “The success of these GCSE students has laid down a strong foundation from which they can further develop their abilities along a variety of career paths from the many AS/A2 subjects offered at St. Louis Grammar School,” he concluded.
