A Sinn Féin delegation, including Newry and Armagh MP Dáire Hughes, attended the north’s annual trade event at Westminster.

The event was addressed by a range of business and political leaders, including First Minister Michelle O’Neill.

Each year the seminal Trade NI business gathering hosts around 200 business leaders, Ministers and influential policy makers and is now in its sixth year. Trade NI is the alliance of Hospitality Ulster, Retail NI and Manufacturing NI, representing the three largest sectors of industry and the majority of businesses in Northern Ireland.

“It was fantastic to attend today’s trade event in Westminster, which focused on accelerating growth in the north’s increasingly vibrant economy and showcasing the strength and diversity of our local businesses. It was great to see businesses from across Newry and Armagh well represented,” said Dáire Hughes MP.

“In the face of ongoing challenges, businesses across Ireland continue to lead with innovation, resilience and ambition.

“The all-Ireland economy is flourishing, with consistently high levels of north-south trade driving opportunity and growth.

“Sinn Féin in the Executive is committed to supporting local businesses, strengthening the economy and delivering more high-quality jobs for workers and families.

“There is enormous potential ahead for our entire island economy, and we must continue to seize these opportunities to build a stronger, fairer and more prosperous future for everyone who lives here.

“My party’s strong all-island team will continue to champion local businesses and workers — in Dublin, Belfast, London, Brussels and beyond — ensuring their voices are heard at every level.”
