Newry Gaza Film Festival gets underway

Thanks to the generous donations from a packed house at Finegan and Son last Tuesday for the showing of ‘Where Olive Trees Weep’, Newry IPSC’s Gaza Film Festival got off to a flying start.

Over £1,000 has been raised towards a mobile maternity unit to be sent to Gaza.

The unit will transform the lives of thousands of expectant and new mothers trying to survive amidst the rubble of Gaza, where pregnant women and those with young babies have lost access to vital services.

The next film in the festival is the Oscar-nominated and award-winning ‘No Other Land’. Released in 2024, this powerful documentary was made by media activists from both Israel and Palestine and captures the reality of a land struggle between resident Palestinians and the occupying Israeli forces seeking their expulsion. Free admission, donations welcome.

The festival continues on Tuesdays at 7pm at Finegan and Son until the end of March. Details to follow.
