Winning artwork by Newry student goes on exhibition

Newry student artist, Alfie Whyte is pictured with his artwork entitled ‘My Brother Charlie' at the opening ceremony of an exhibition of winning paintings to celebrate 70 years of the Texaco Children's Art Competition at Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, which runs until February 24.

Amongst the top prize-winners in the 2019 competition, Alfie, then a pupil at Cloughoge Primary School, Newry, won first prize in the 7-8 years age category.

Armagh teachers in primary and second level schools, whose pupils take part in the annual Texaco Children’s Art Competition, are reminded that the closing date for receipt of entries this year is Wednesday, 28th February next.
