SRC PLANNING APPLICATION FOR WALL DEMOLITION WITHDRAWN

The Planning Application by the Southern Regional College to demolish the old Cattle and Pig Mart Wall along Patrick Street has been withdrawn, Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady has said.
The Sinn Féin MP said senior management contacted him today to confirm that they have withdrawn their application to amend the frontage of the East Campus building.
He said they have also committed to consulting with the local community on any future plans to develop facilities, including changes to the frontages of the Campuses at Patrick Street.
He added: “I commend the SRC Management Team for their prompt response to the concerns that myself and many local residents raised.”
SRC CONFIRMS APPLICATION WITHDRAWAL
The Southern Regional College has confirmed that it has withdrawn its application to demolish the wall at the front of its East Campus.
In a statement to the Newry Reporter, a spokesperson said the College will consult with the local community on any future plans to develop facilities at its premises.
“The College thanks community representatives for meeting with management and for their endorsement and support of the work that the College is doing across the community in Newry City,” said the spokesperson.
“In light of those discussions, the College has decided to withdraw its application to amend the frontage to the East Campus building and confirms that it will consult further with the local community on any future plans to develop facilities at Patrick Street.”To read more subscribe to our online Newspaper
