Legendary mountaineer to lead ‘Alfie’s Climb’

A Newry schoolboy who suffers from a genetic muscle wasting disease will soon be able to tick his dream of mountain climbing off his bucket list with a little help from legendary Newry mountaineer Terence ‘Banjo’ Bannon.

The renowned mountain climber who, in 2003, became the second Irishman to reach the summit of Mount Everest is organising ‘Alfie’s climb’ - a fundraising climb to the peak of Northern Ireland’s highest mountain, Slieve Donard, which will take place in April.
