Cross back where they belong

10 October 2018

Crossmaglen are back in the county final where co-manager Kieran Donnelly feels they belong, after a strong performance against neighbours Cullyhanna who broke their run of six championship titles in a row in the 2016 semi-final with Pearse Ogs the only other side to knock out the mighty Crossmaglen since 1995.

Cross lost at the same stage last year to Maghery but the performance in windy conditions at the Athletic Grounds on Sunday evening showed that they are back and looking as dangerous as they did in their glory days. Players like Paul Hughes, Aaron Kernan, Johnny Hanratty and James Morgan who has returned from injury, balanced perfectly with the younger squad members, particularly Rian O’Neill who has been a force of nature since Crossmaglen’s campaign kicked into gear in the latter stages, with good wins over Clann Eireann and holders Armagh Harps in the quarter-final.
